LOWLAND RESCUE IS THE GOVERNING BODY FOR THE 35 LOWLAND TEAMS IN THE UK

We exist to continuously develop skills and resources to save lives, when every second counts. Lowland Rescue is committed to driving excellence and setting standards for inland Search and Rescue. We develop partnerships and deliver training and support to our 35 member teams. We provide trusted expertise and are specialists in the science and methodology of search. We support the Emergency Services through promoting the highest standards of search and rescue, through building our partnerships at national and local level so our teams can assist with different scenarios, from focused individual searches through to local resilience efforts.

WHO WE ARE

We’re the governing body for all 35 teams operating in Lowland areas of the UK. We work with stakeholders to produce the only nationally accredited missing-person search standards in the UK.

WHAT WE DO

Our members are trained in search techniques which are each developed from academic research by worldwide scholars. Every member of our teams is trained to use their full senses to maximise the chances of finding a missing person as quickly as possible.

HOW WE DO IT

Our techniques vary greatly from Police line-searching, and our members are often seen walking faster, farther apart and using specific patterns of visual search. All of our member teams have Search Management capabilities which are amongst the best in the world. We employ all possible types of resources, such as human, dogs, drones, boats, quads, and many more. Often times pioneering new methods and technologies, defining standards, and pushing UK search & rescue forwards.

SAVING LIVES

Our teams are also trained in medical skills from first aid to advanced medical care, and are able to care for any casualty or vulnerable person that they find until the individual is safely in the hands of the emergency services. We know our teams have and will continue to save lives.
